Coffee. Community. Connections.

Intelligentsia coffee hand-brewed per order, bubble tea, smoothies, refreshers, and a corner that has been the town's living room for thirteen years. Formerly Cafe Fresco. Same corner, same people, new name.

Why people come in

A coffee shop that takes care of its town

Thirteen years of a tip jar that goes to somebody every week, thirteen Thanksgiving mornings of No Empty Seats, and a free coffee for anyone who did a good deed on the way in. The handwritten sleeves are just how the place says hello.

Coffee for a good deed

Donate clothes to the shelter, drop something at the Salvation Army, tell us about it, and the next cup is on us.

The tip jar with a job

Every week, 100% of the tip jar goes to one person who needs it. Once it was a bike that got a man to work and off the street.

A place to stay a while

Book club, the special needs moms group, crochet night, meet-the-author Sundays. The back tables are yours.

On the cup

Every cup leaves with a handwritten line on the sleeve, two hundred of them a day. Three from this week:

Cup sleeve reading: Happiness is an inside job. Don't assign anyone else that much power over your life. Cup sleeve reading: The darkest hour is just before the dawn. Cup sleeve reading: Say no. You don't have to lie, manipulate or over-explain yourself. Just simply decline.
Same corner, new name

Two people, one counter

Cafe Fresco became 1 North Court in 2026. The shop has a new owner and the same heart. Here is who you will find behind each half of it.

Jenn, owner of 1 North Court

Jenn

Owner, 1 North Court

Jenn took over the shop in 2026 and runs it day to day: the counter, the menu, the ordering, the hours. The sleeves still get written and the tip jar still finds someone every week.

Jenn: two lines in your own words about why you took on this corner.

For Bre and Jen: ordering lives on the site now instead of sending people to DoorDash. Every drink asks for size, hot or iced, milk, and flavor, with sample upcharges (50¢ and $1 for size, 75¢ for oat, almond, soy, or a flavor shot) until Jen sets the real ones; "Order my usual" remembers how each favorite was last made. The order, the pickup time, and the favorites all work on this page; nothing is charged. On the live site this plugs into a free ordering backend (Square Online or Clover, both take the card and print the ticket at the counter), and the DoorDash storefront can be retired or kept as a delivery-only side door.

Community Love

It started with a tip jar and the belief that one generous act can ripple through a town. It has become three programs, a 1,300-member group, and a lot of Thanksgiving mornings. Founded and led by Breanne Zolfo.

The heart-in-cup is the thread back to the shop. The badge is the program.

No Empty Seats

14th Annual · Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026

Every year we deliver a hot Thanksgiving meal and a week's worth of groceries to local families chosen by the counselors, teachers, and staff of every Crown Point school. The food goes out hot and gets eaten when it lands, because some of these homes have no stove, no microwave, or no power that morning.

Four ways to help. Pick one.

Cook

Bring one dish, hot, Thursday between 7:30 and 8:15. Mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, pie. A full tray feeds about 25. Half trays count. We will email you a menu to pick from.

Pack

Wednesday night, 5 to 7, sorting and bagging a week of groceries for 100+ families. Kids welcome with a grown-up.

Drive

Thursday from 8:30 to about 10. Five or six houses near each other, a cooler in the trunk, a knock on the door. The best job of the year.

Donate

Kid-friendly non-perishables (cereal, mac and cheese, ramen, canned goods) to 1 North Court by Wednesday 11 AM, or host a drive at your work, school, or church.

What not to bring: expired food, fresh meat, fresh eggs, anything that needs refrigeration. We cannot store perishables safely. Have a large donation to share with every family? Email jenn@1northcourt.com to arrange it ahead of time.

Families: we do our best with specific requests, and every family receives a complete meal from each category. Questions, call (219) 281-2434 and ask for Jenn.

Christmas to Remember

Two weeks after Thanksgiving · date to confirm with Bre

The same families who got a Thanksgiving meal get Christmas. A week of groceries, and a gift for every kid in the house, chosen for their age. Target ships exactly what we ask for two weeks ahead. Amazon drops off surplus toys every week. Volunteers sort, label, and deliver, and nobody gets the wrong toy.

How a kid gets the right gift

1. Counselors tell us who

Each family comes with the kids' ages and interests, from the same school counselors who named them in November.

2. We build the list

Every kid gets a line: family, age, what they'd love. That list becomes the Target order and the Amazon pull.

3. Sort and label

Volunteers match each toy to its line and label the bag with the family and the kid. No guessing on delivery morning.

4. Drive it home

Same drivers, same neighborhoods as Thanksgiving. A knock on the door, two weeks before Christmas.

What to give

New and unwrapped. We wrap and label so every gift matches its kid. The ages below are where we usually run short.

For Bre and Jen: this button is wired. Paste the Zeffy (or PayPal or Venmo) link into one line of the site and it goes live with the chosen amount carried over. Zeffy is free for nonprofits and takes about ten minutes to set up; the playbook has the steps. Until the link is pasted, the button shows the note above instead of a dead end. Whether gifts are tax-deductible depends on Community Love's 501(c)(3) status, still unconfirmed, so the page does not say "deductible" anywhere.

Breanne Zolfo

Founder & Community Events Director, Community Love
Community Love · presented by Breanne Zolfo and 1 North Court

Breanne Zolfo is a nationally recognized philanthropist whose coffee shop on the Crown Point square, Cafe Fresco, became known across the country for its acts of kindness and for Community Love.

Her mission of helping people in need reaches well past the counter. She has served as an intake counselor for battered women's shelters, founded and taught her own ESL school, and started the nonprofit Community Love to empower everyday people to bring kindness into their own lives and the lives of the community around them.

"We believe that kindness can be revolutionary, that one generous act can ripple through a community."

It began with the tip jar. Every week, all of it goes to one person who needs it. Then came the handwritten cup sleeves, two hundred a day. Then Thanksgiving of 2013, when she and her parents loaded three cars with groceries and drove for five hours. That became No Empty Seats, and when they learned some families had no stove or no power, the groceries became a hot meal at the door.

Bre is also a motivational speaker, speaking across America about her mission. She has appeared on CBS This Morning and Steve Harvey, among other outlets.

Confirm with Bre: the shop is run day to day by Jenn as 1 North Court; Bre leads Community Love and its events.
